On Thursday 27 May the AIC held the final Ideas2Market workshop for this financial year – a Masterclass at Eight Mile Plains in Brisbane. An intimate group of 12 small business owners attended the full day workshop which was packed with information and resources to help them grow their business.
Guest speakers from successful Brisbane based company Noja Power shared their journey from the early days of launching the business to becoming the international success story they are today. Participants listened carefully as founders Quynh Anh Le and Neil O’Sullivan stressed the importance of protecting your ideas and inventions early and investing resources wisely.
Paul Harrison from Shelston IP also spoke at the workshop, and agreed with the guest speakers about the importance of having an intellectual property (IP) strategy. He reminded participants that different methods of IP protection suited different products and services and what works for one business may not work for another. He recommended business owners speak to their advisors and develop a plan that will help their business in the long term.
Although the program of workshops has concluded for this financial year, more workshops will soon be scheduled for 2010/2011.
